How has Television News Affected Society?

For a long time, cable news has been a primary source of news for a lot of people and it still enjoys a large viewership base. With different news channels snapping at one another, and with the technology today, the fight keeps getting fiercer.
With the advent of internet, people who used to watch the news channels to get updated with the minute-by-minute news, are now moving to the internet so as to get latest news every second. With online news publications, one has access to Bollywood news, political news, etc. at a much faster pace. So, who still watch TV news?
The answer to this question is “opinion”. Through online publication sites, you can surely get the “what” at a much faster speed, but when it comes to “how” and “why”, in addition to the explanatory commentary on what one should be thinking and what one needs to do about it, comes with TV news channels. This way TV and cable news are not just sensationalized but are opinionated as well.
The sensational opinions that different news channel promote are polarizing in nature. It doesn’t matter what is your political affiliations, if you are watching latest news India in any channel, you will surely find a suitable opinion that you agree with and another that will make you cringe.
Interestingly though, the culture of this opinionated journalism will most probably be the downfall of cable news channels, as more people are getting aware about what the actual news is and what they are being presented with.
